| About the NetWork: |
As the only exploration geophysicist at Landmark Graphics Corporation for the first several years, Roice interacted with a lot of client geophysicisits in companies all across the world. Many of these explorationists have retired, and with recent downturns, some have been laid off. Any true explorationist had drilling opportunities which they were not able to pursue because of budgets, or size, or risk. DRC has been identifying and packaging these opportunities.
After leaving Landmark Graphics in about 1992, Roice worked with Dr. Robert S. Sneider for a couple of years, where he learned hands-on, as part of different project studies, the value of integrated teams. Bob had done a multi-year experiment, which was presented to and published by The Archie Conference, and which is summarized on the diagram to the right. In the years since, a series of tools have been developed for improving the formation and running of integrated teams from a group of professional participants committed to making the NetWork function. These include tools to index experience and opportunities spatially, tools to index knowledge and experience and exploration problems by work process, tools to semi-automate and better visualize exploration processes and results, etc. Combined with new information technologies, these tools enable individual members of the NetWork to successfully compete with large integrated exploration companies.
